For this week’s episode, we decided to tackle the rather dense and multifaceted topic of bike infrastructure. To put it short, bike infrastructure refers to all means of city infrastructure that can be used by cyclists. Generally, the face of bike infrastructure is the very controversial bike lane. Both drivers and cyclists can love or hate the bike lane. To some, it’s a godsend (Looking at you Dutchies), while to others, it’s more of an underdeveloped and misused lane that puts cyclists at more risk than riding on the road. Does perfect bike infrastructure solve all problems? Do cyclists and/or drivers need to change or adapt how they move through the city? Does this even matter to fixed gear riders?
We discuss these questions and more, while also incorporating our own experiences riding in different places plus those of people living in other countries!
