Hey everyone!
A sense of elitism pervades most hobbies, ranging from uptight coffee snobs to photography armchair experts and the fixed gear community isn’t isolated from this type of behavior. No matter how self-aware and welcoming the whole culture may be, there will always be some people who try to steer the fixed-gear culture into a certain way and exclude those who are branching off from the ‘accepted’ norms. These can include aspects such as the big brakes vs brakeless situation, using bibs vs cool shorts, riding with clipless shoes instead of OG clips. We discuss elitism, fixed gear, and road cycling, how it is perpetuated in fixed gear culture, its impact and our own experiences, and where we stand.
Don’t be a d*ck and see you next week!
